NATURE INSPIRED INNOVATION
Our Story
Biuwave formed in the Summer of 2018 as an NSF I-CORPS Team offshoot of the Hydrodynamic Laboratory at Florida Atlantic University led by Dr. Oscar Curet. The laboratory research is focused on biomimetic propulsion for autonomous underwater systems.
Biuwave integrates the laboratory's biomimetic propulsion research to design autonomous platforms for ocean observation and exploration where environmental disturbances and restrictions deny traditional propulsion platforms.

Our Technology
The Knifebot's biomimetic propulsion, inspired by the Black Ghost Knifefish, has shown an increase in efficiency and agility during the characterization of the Knifebot's biomimetic propulsion.

Biuwave leverages the laboratory's research to develop platforms that capture nature's superior quiet agility.
Biuwave autonomous underwater vessels can explore environments where acoustic disturbances are prohibited while operating near high-value objects. These restrictive environments cannot be navigated by traditional autonomous underwater vessels.
